Sy Laga’aia is the chief operating officer of Armatec Global directing all aspects of security operations, including corporate strategy execution, enterprise sales, and business development. Sy brings nearly 30 years of security industry experience to this role, having previously led and owned a security company with $3.5 million in revenue in the first year of operations. He has led worldwide security operations management for high-profile celebrities, dignitaries, royal families, and the 2000 Olympic Games. He is the creator and founder of the world’s first personal safety smartwatch with Grade A1 24/7 live monitoring, garnering Australian Olympic swimming legend Dawn Fraser as brand ambassador. As a key player in the emergency response wearable technology space, the IoT-based device aimed at protecting women and vulnerable groups. He has formed strategic partnerships with Samsung, law enforcement, government, intelligence agencies, the FBI, and the Secret Service. Along with strong strategic partnerships in his current role, he is customer-focused, bringing value through compliance implementation and cost-effectiveness. Born in Western Samoa, raised in New Zealand, and a resident of Sydney, he is a former rugby coach with a reputation for discovering elite athletes for the Australian national men’s 15s, women’s 15s, and women’s Sevens, providing mentorship for the Rugby World Cup and the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. A passionate humanitarian, Sy was the former Chair of the Taskforce for Australia appointed by the Rotary Club International’s Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (‘RAGAS’, US), and the former Chair of the Rotary Club of Sydney Peace Building Group. He has been featured in the Daily Telegraph, the Sydney Morning Herald, and other national and international news publications.
